Throw back tunesies
I have no idea why I was thinking about this guy today. In the ninth grade, our French teacher Mme. Barclay had us listen to a Roch Voisin song. And today, driving, all I could think about was whether I was remembering his last name correctly. Voisin? Roisin? Naturally, whenever I hear the name Roch, I struggle to keep this out of my head. No idea why. The only similarity between Roch and Rex is...

Tip of the Week: Forget kittens
I want a porcupine. Did you know that porcupines have 30,000 quills….? Me neither.

Can I just say
That I love this outfit. I love earth tones – actually, there’s a pretty famous line that I penned. I was in a Jacob and it was Christmas and I was with J.O. and we were trying to do…. something. But we were definitely snarly puss about it. ANYWAYS the clerk trying to ring up my fuggin purchase was giving me sass and I finally turned to her and said Don’t f*ck with me. I’m wearing earth tones....

So here’s something I love…
There’s a great blog called Poppytalk that I always forget to check out. I don’t know why it’s not on my radar but that’s ok. Lainey takes top precedent, obv, but I always get so scattered after that. Where do I go next?! Thank Rod for FB – it’s more a social RSS feed that anything… This week, Poppytalk posted these photos and I proceeded to shoot myself in the face with love, die from jealousy...

Tip of the Week: A little bit more love for Lauren...
Because I like her. Did you read my post about the class I took from her? And how she basically helped me re-do my new kitchen for $200? Her being Tara. Why do I like her? I stopped by to have a wee visit with her on Saturday, while I contemplated how much I hated Kijiji / The Cpt’s SKEPTICALness. We were chatting about the market for antiques in Calgary and the kind of work she does and she made...

Alec Baldwin is intense on Twitter
I really like him – let’s get that straight. He’s liberal, he’s witty, he’s seen his up and his downs. I think he’s smart, articulate, I think his view point is slightly leftist but I admire his passion. NOT that I am anywhere near the right. I’m right in the none-of-your-bidniz part of the spectrum. I don’t have to share everything with you, k? But Alec is intense on Twitter. He is intense about...

Tunesies: Young the Giant
Obv you’ve heard of them – non? Whenever I listen to them, I think of my friend JWP “BEAT IT.” She went to their concert a few weeks – maybe months? – back. She said they were really good live, but they also only have one album so it was like 45 minutes of awesome and then a wave goodbye. But while I was painting the new house this weekend, I played their album over and over – about 6 times.

Hmmm. Guinness on Film.
I don’t know what to think of this. I part love it because Daphne Guinness doesn’t think she’s eccentric – she is just “a person living in 2011.”  She feels the because she’s not a performer, the fashion becomes more human – a thought and idea that I am willing to accept. But isn’t she a former? The film takes a short look at her visual performance of getting ready for the Met Ball in the window...

Tonight on Parks & Rec
Oh wait, that’s right, NBC hasn’t figured out how to let us watch clips in CANADA. NBC – you give us those clips or we will take back what is most precious to your people. We will take Bieber back. And we will take Michael J Fox back too. AND STEVE NASH. http://www.nbc.com/parks-and-recreation/video/introduction-to-lasers/1367774/

Tunesies–Memory Tapes
I have never heard of these guys until today and yet I can not stop listening to their music. It’s Modern Euro Techno Pop – that’s a genre I just made up FYI – part Foster the People, Part Pepper Rabbit? Part I’m hungry and it’s past lunchtime. In other words, I don’t know why I’m trying to decode what kind of music this is. Just listen. Maybe it’s just that it makes great background noise?

My new fav site to cruisey-cruise–tonicliving.com
I’m obsessed with upholstery. Since The Cpt and I are moving into a new house that is 2.5 times bigger than our condo – we need some new furniture. Do I feel like spending $3000 on a couch? Think about who you’re talking to here. So I’m trolling kijiji and cracking my crafting knuckles, trying to get back into the swing of things. Reupholstery is my next thing. BestieBestie Leah and I are always...

I’ll take two of these. STAT.
Because why wouldn’t I want to snooze on this ELECTRIC RECLINER? Is that a fire hazard? I want to sleep in my electric recliner with my electric blanket and my heating lamp on. Fug you winter. This little diddy and his twin sister can be yours for $60 on kijiji.

Just shut it.
I’m in love. With vegan shoes. Not because they’re vegan. But because I love them. They’re by Roni Kantor Vintage. But they’re from Australia. Ballz. That means shipping is going to cost me an arm and a liver. So meow I’m recruiting – who wants to go in on an order? These are the two pairs I like. Rusty Grey “Margaret” Heels – they are suede, fyi so pointless for 8 months of the year in Calgary...

Tunesies: The Philosopher Kings
My older cousin used to live with the drummer (one of the drummers? the drummer at one point?) in Kitsalano. Just goes to show you – you can be a household name and still live in a basement apartment with a poli sci grad student. That being said, I have always loved their album Famous, Rich and Beautiful. I just recently re-fell in love with them via my Rdio account. Do you have one? Please – get...

Things I feel bad for: me, because I haven’t been...
I have had numerous people over the past few days mention they enjoy reading this blog. You know who you are – passive aggressively reminding me that I haven’t written a fuggin thing in 2 weeks. OKAY SO this is what I have been up too 1. Remodeling the new house, but only as a crafty person can.  The TOP is the kitchen before. Lovely. I actually didn’t hate it – at all – the cupboards are solid...
